2018

Sligro-ISPC opened its 3rd cash-and-carry and delivery location in Antwerp at the end of 2018. 

2017

Sligro Food Group announced the acquisition of the Belgian wholesaler ISPC in January 2017. ISPC has two combined cash-and-carry and delivery locations in Ghent and Liège and a fresh fish wholesaler in Brussels. This has allowed Sligro Food Group to strengthen its position in Belgium.

2016

Belgium’s Queen Mathilde opened Sligro's ZiN Inspiration Lab in Veghel on 30th November. A uniquely inspiring 3,000 m2 environment, where events, boot camps and anything imaginable to inspire customers and share knowledge will be taking place.

2016

The Belgian JAVA Foodservice was acquired in early 2016. JAVA Foodservice focuses on the institutional, corporate catering market segments, as well as a number of hotel chains. This acquisition was an important step in the Group's ambition to become a leading player in the Belgian food service market.

2008

Koen Slippens, grandson of the founder Abel Slippens, took over the CEO baton from his cousin Abel Slippens on 21st September 2008. Koen Slippens has been working at Sligro Food Group since 1998.

1961

The first Sligro Cash-and-Carry wholesaler opened its doors in 1961. This formed the basis for the current network of 50 Sligro branches in the Netherlands and 3 branches in Belgium.

1935

Sligro Food Group was formed on 17 April 1935 as a wholesaler in margarine, fats and oils by Abel Slippens
